
Croton Democrats Record of Progress
Clean Energy Leadership: Earned recognition as NY State’s top Clean Energy Community and expanded village-wide solar power, including a 4-megawatt system at the Croton-Harmon Train Station which brings in approximately $400,000 in revenue annually to the Village.
Green Transportation: Added EVs to the municipal fleet, installed charging facilities, and launched an e-bike share program in concert with communities along the Hudson.
Stood with First Responders: Supported volunteer firefighters and EMS with new facilities, equipment, and strengthened retirement benefits for the FD.
Community Recognition: Launched the “Hometown Heroes” banner program to honor veterans and approved maximum property tax exemptions for veterans, seniors, and first responders.
Community Policing: Adopted a Police Reform Plan that includes a permanent Police Advisory Committee, added bilingual officers to the force, and equipped PD with cutting-edge technology.
Traffic Safety: Enacted a 25 mph Village speed limit to improve safety on local roads, instituted traffic-calming measures on our streets, and established a dedicated Police traffic detail.
Infrastructure and Housing: Invested in critical infrastructure improvements, expanded multi-family housing options, and secured the NYS Pro-Housing Community designation to gain access to additional state funds.
Inclusion and Accessibility: Established the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Advisory Committee to foster greater community engagement.
Recreation and Events: Added bocce courts to Black Rock Park and refreshed Dobbs Park, renovated the bath house at Silver Lake Park, and improved Manes Field.
Telecommunications: Approved a new cell tower for the Municipal Building to improve wireless coverage in the Village.
